Strategic plan for 2010-2014 of Non-Governmental Organization Committee for Children’s Rights

Phnom Penh: Non-Governmental Organization Committee for Children’s Rights held a seminar on October 23, 2009, at Cambodiana Hotel, on the strategic plan 2010-2014 to outline the points of view on the draft of strategic plan collected from all shareholders to be included and approved.

The purpose of this seminar is to process used in the draft of strategic plan 2010-2014 of Non-Governmental Organization Committee for Children’s Rights (NGO CCR) and to analyze the preparation of the draft of strategic plan to respond to the priority issues and concern to implement the convention of the United Nation for Children Rights in Cambodia and to provide points of view and request for the draft of strategic plan.

Mr. MECH Sokha, Chairperson of Executive Committee of …… Children Rights said that this seminar was held with the aim of estimating the achievement and activities implemented focusing on the determination and resolving the issues for each strategic plan, undergone issues, experience and various recommendations.

He stressed that the making of strategic plan is the proper effort to enable the basic decision making and activities and to introduce the activities to be performed in the future.

It is noted that the Non-Governmental Organization Committee for Children’s Rights provides its effort and resources to ensure the effective implementation of children convention by means of advocacy for respect of children’s right. Particularly, the committee focuses on establishment and amendment to law in relation to the children and also examines and monitors the implementation of children convention in Cambodia and to submit additional reports on the implementation of children convention in Cambodia to the committee of United Nations for Children Rights.

At the same time, Ms. KIEV Bory, Secretary-General of National Council for Children of Cambodia stated that the holding of this seminar is to show the activities and purpose of non-governmental organization which has contributed to the promotion of children’s right with the Royal Government of Cambodia with its best effort to fight against child abuses in Cambodia.

She also encouraged other non-governmental organization to continue performing their activities stronger to contribute to the protection of children and to enable them to have full rights in the social activities, particularly the cooperation of NGOs and the Royal Government in fighting against the abuse of children’s right is required.

In that occasion, the child KONG Sovanndeth, chief of advocate children networks, representative of children in 11 municipalities and provinces expressed his interest and raised that we the children who jointed this program were very happy and felt warmth for the effort of the Royal Government, National Committee for Children’s Rights of Cambodia especially the Non-Governmental Organization for Children’s Rights in promoting the children’s rights and health and to provide opportunity for the children to express their points of view and visions in many national and international platforms in relation to the children.

Sovanndeth added that based on the achievement from the start he jointed with the non-governmental organization committee to date the organization has provided children especially him with many opportunities such as obtaining capacity building, dissemination to the children group in the community and the meeting with commune council which made him play important role in contribution to the resolving of the problems of the children in the community. Moreover, it has provided some of us with opportunity to attend the meeting, seminars as well as other activities in the country representing Cambodian children.

It is noted that the Non-Governmental Organization Committee for Children’s Rights is the alliance of 59 non-governmental organizations in the Kingdom of Cambodia focusing common commitment to the children’s rights. The committee was established in July 1994 by members of the organization selected from nine organizations and this committee has tried its best to ensure the awareness of United Nations Children Rights Convention among children, parents and other institutions.
